I can retrieve her stolen gems but she can't retrieve mine... I'm not on her friends list for some reason even though we're friends on Facebook and I can see her on my friends list. Any idea what's going on?

Sometimes it happens. Can she see other friends' gems or she doesn't see anything?
Anyway, it's usually fixed by logging out from Facebook in-game and reconnecting ~15minutes later. If the problem persists, log out from Facebook in-game, then go to the Facebook profile and unlink KoT from there, then try to log in again in-game.
