Hey, teo, I'll explain you the roaster mechanics. Every time you start a raid attempt, the roaster lights the fuse around your thief and keeps it burning unti you start an air jump* or drop from solid ground**. Once you land from an air jump or a drop, the Roaster re-lights the fuse, repeating the process. Keep going on solid ground for too long and you'll take damage from the roaster.


*An air jump is a jump with no wall colisions active.

**In KoT, the solid ground is any land, wall or celling.

I was saving my latest dungeon in more than a hour and more than a single day. It took me LOTS of practice in order to save the dungeon. And no, that wasn't 10-15 attempts, it was more than that. You can learn about the trap layout in the "The Armageddon Dungeon" topic.
